Your friend is looking for a job in London and has seen several job advertisements he is interested in. He has noticed that in the advertisements, the companies in London always ask candidates to submit both a CV and a cover letter in their job applications. He is not familiar with the concept of a cover letter and has asked you to clarify it for him.

You have found a very interesting article on the subject that you are going to share with him. Because you are aware his English is limited, you decide to also email a brief overview of the main ideas of the article. Click here for the article.

Summarize the article in an email to your friend. Write between 60-80 words.

Hi Pedro!

I summarize an article that may interest you about your cover letter:

You should introduce yourself, mention the job, demonstrate your job-related skills and experience, encourage the reader to read your resume, and finish by requesting an interview.

Don’t write more than one page.  Avoid to write your entire resume, to use too much "I", or use too much phrases like "I believe", "I have" and "I am", typos and don’t mention your other job applications.

Good luck!

Did you know there are more people who own a mobile phone than people with a toothbrush?

Accordind the researchers, In 2005, 5 per cent of adult internet users in the US used social media; You’re jocking!  in 2016, that number increased to 79 per cent,. Given the rate of growth, there will be a  100 per cent of adults with internet access on social media in the future. Oh, come on!

 In the future,

The children of 2030 will grow up unable to imagine a world in which social technology didn’t exist.

the Premium service will cause a sensation. Escaping from constant publicity will be very important.

It’ll grow the concern about privacy, therefore the social media will have to cope with this challenge.

It’ll grow the self care and this will have reflection in technology and the social media sites.

It’ll be even harder to distinguish between life on social media and reality.

Frequent use of social networks will negatively affect mental health.

There will be new laws and  court battles will be inevitable.

Technology will destroy more jobs than it’ll  create.

Sending money to your friends and followers will also happen through social media.

According my nephew Pedrito, who is fourteen, Amazon will have its products delivered by drones, whattsap will create new emojis, instagram will allow to record videos of more than 4 people, and talk to people from other countries without costing money, Facebook will disappear and appear another cooler site, tik tok will be integrated into Instagram and Neflix will be totally free.

Finally; She has a name. She is Alexa. Robots will probably be your best friends in the future; They will make your life easier and probably won't make you envy their perfect lifes posted on Facebook or Instagram, or yes.

SPEAKING TASK2

SPEAKING TASK

Now it is your turn to describe some photographs. Look at the following pictures and describe them using probably and likely. Do this in about 6 minutes. Remember to use plenty of adjectives, as well as cohesive devices.

The first

In this picture, in foreground, we can see a couple, a man and a woman, they will probably be married, in addition, there are two children. It's likely to be their sons.

The children play at building sand castles, It’s likely to be enjoying, the woman plays with them.  The man looks at her and smiles. He’d probably rather be alone with her.

The background is a beach on a sunny day, the sky is bright blue and the sea is the same colour, only a few waves dye it white.

We see few people on the beach, it’s likely not to be a holiday, so people will probably be working.

At the botton of the picture, between the sea and the sky, from right to left, there is something like buildings and vegetation.

The second

In this picture, we see a man dressed in a suit in the middle of a room. He will probably be single because the room is very messy. It’s a joke. The place is likely to be a desk or a workplace in an office.

In front of it, there is a large table full of all kinds of papers, as well as other objects I wouldn’t know to describe. On the right, there is a device, it’s likely to be a computer, although I think it will probably be a television.

Above it, there is something hanging on the wall that looks like a tricolor frog. There is also a window there.

On the left, there is a kind of notice board, and at the bottom of the picture, a shelf full of books and other objects, everything disordered.

The man is staring at three computer screens and appears to be gripping a mouse in his right hand, he looks thoughtful, he is probably thinking of committing a suicide.
