You are an experienced traveller and decide to write an article in a travelling magazine. The proposed topic is "Don'y live up to your steretypes".

Choose a place you have visited whose customs were shocking or surprising for you and explain a moment, situation or anecdote where a stereotype became a fallacy.

·       Give details about the place where you travelled and how you made up your mind to this destination.

·       Explain your previous stereotypes about this place and their people.

·       Contrast and compare them with ours.

·       Tell an anecdote that made you change your mind

Write between 225-250 words.

Like any other traveller, I had heard about Mexico, its beauty, its colonial cities, culture and tradition, gorgeous and huge beaches of golden sand, full of heavenly sunrises and reddish sunsets, delicious spicy food, but above all about the warmth of its people.

But also, about its stereotypes, a run-down and dirty country, whose infrastructures do not work, whose inhabitants are lazy, inedible food, undrinkable water, and to top it all, a dangerous country, full of cartels, drugs and gangs.

Whether it be because I am an adventurer or perhaps an unbeliever, I decided to travel there.

When I arrived, the streets were clean and the air quality was good. Mexicans work very, very hard; the food is amazing and its water is like in any country "WATER"; the people are friendly, and helpful, but above all I felt safe there.

By the way, Mexicans and Spaniards share many stereotypes for being Latino. It is said about us that we are all bullfighters, although while the Spanish sing flamenco, the Mexicans sing rancheras. They and we are lazy; however, they take a nap watching TV soap operas while we sleep watching the 2TV documentaries, as a matter of fact when I arrived in Mexico, the taxi driver who took to us to the hotel had been bullfighter, member in a cartel, he was lazy and sang rancheras. The moral of this is that this anecdote is my invention and the stereotype is a popular invention.
